Since they emerged, a lot of controversy has surrounded the payday loans industry and what exactly they aim to do. Is it a scheme to exploit the already-vulnerable, or is it a chance to tap into a new field; short term relief from worry issues, which can be resolved within a few weeks? Well the Customer Finance Association (CFA) have compiled research which suggests that payday loans are being used more responsibly than many may assume. In fact, as many as 93% customers who have used their services feel as though they’re treated with dignity and 89% were confident enough to say the charges which come with the loans were clearly displayed, so few felt that they were being misled into their deals.

What one does have to factor into this survey, however, is the fact that payday loan users asked about their services were all customers of just one company: The Money Shop. The Money Shop is in operation both online and on high streets, making it one of the most popular and reputable establishments of its type, out of the hundreds which are in existence in the UK today. This said, customers of other instant loan suppliers might have completely different experiences of their treatment and whether or not they were given an open and clear idea of how much they’d have to pay back to the companies, once it had been loaned out.

Even when taking that into consideration, the fact that 300 customers were asked about their perception of payday loan companies suggests that a fair enough proportion were offered the chance to share their views. There’s nothing to suggest that the people asked hadn’t tried using other payday loan suppliers beforehand, which would change things. If they’d used more than just The Money Shop and still felt as though quick cash companies were honest and open with their pricing and charges, the perceptions over them should surely be altered and viewed in the same light as other loans companies, which also receive mixed feelings from customers.

Although it might be an obvious thing to some people, not everyone knows what they should be aware of when they go out to buy a fragrance. After all, if it was all so easy, wouldn’t everyone be wearing the same thing? Well that’s why there’s so much variety. Everyone has different tastes and different ideas of what they’d like to to wear, but a handful of criteria are able to unify these thoughts. The following four points are what you should be considering when buying a fragrance.

- Scent. First things first, you’re looking for the one which smells the best, after all, this is the whole point. Scent should be at the top of the priority list for fragrance and ensure that you check with someone else that it smells as good as you think it does, before you decide to buy. They are always occasions when you regret it, if you rush this process.

- How long-lasting it is. Decide whether you’re looking for something everyday – which will last you a good few hours, without wearing thing – or a fragrance which is only for special occasions – which tends to be more expensive, but is more of a boost scent for infrequent times when you’re specifically out to impress. Ask to find out whether the aroma you’d like is a long-lasting one or not.

- Tone. A lot of people forget to consider how the time of year has an effect on what fragrance you wear. You should be aiming to match your scent with the time of year, so that there isn’t too much of a contrast between yourself and the surroundings. For example, summery weather often suits fruity tones, whereas autumnal periods might require more woody or musky fragrances. Pick and choose carefully.

- Size. Of course, it would be ridiculous to consider all of the above points, if you can’t afford to buy the specific perfume you’d like in a reasonable quantity. Consider the price depending on how large the bottles are. Once you’ve done this, you will soon find yourself narrowing down your options, until the right one makes itself known.

As an overview to what’s out there in UK fitness clubs, you’ll come across a mass of various centres which claim to be able to get you into your ideal shape. Let’s face it, there’s hundreds of them out there, so it’s difficult to know where to start. Some are more suited to people looking to bulk up, whilst others are for those with a desire to trim down and tone in any problem areas. Rather than sifting through them all yourself, here’s the UK’s top fitness clubs and what they all offer.

- LA Fitness. Born out of California (as if you didn’t already guess), LA Fitness are a global chain of health clubs which have a wide coverage in the US, Canada and the UK. They run lots of fitness classes, as well as having the bulky equipment you’d expect of a company as large as they are. For the popular choice, they do the job.

- Fitness First. Another well-known brand, Fitness First are also very much up on what’s trendy in the industry. They’re continually looking out for the most modern equipment and training techniques, so are sure to keep ahead of the curve.

- David Lloyd. Established by the famous Tennis player, David Lloyd have become a favourite of those with sports in-mind for their fitness regimes. Although that might be the case, everyone and anyone’s suited to join and will be able to find functions which match their needs.

- Total Fitness. One of Northern England’s more popular fitness chains is soon becoming one of the UK’s. The all-round company match their name; they’re versatile and will be able to provide customers with programmes made to match bodybuilders as much as they will mums who want to tone up a little.

- Virgin Active. Rising in the ranks, thanks to the purchase of a competitor, Virgin Active are a striking fitness chain which boast similar claims to the other diverse companies. They have the means to accommodate most and are up-to-date with the latest equipment, but it doesn’t mean they compromise of specific classes.

As soon as the New Year comes in, there’s a tendency to want to throw all your old accessories out and replace them with brand new ones. After all, if you’re ridding yourself of your old wardrobe in exchange for a brand new one, why wouldn’t you want your accessories to follow suit? As if the experts wouldn’t have your back covered, they’ve already got the guides set for what additional extras you need in your life and how easy they’ll be in incorporate into your new outfits.

- Alexander McQueen Scarf: You’d be mad to miss out on a bit of McQ this year. As with the past couple of years, having a touch of McQueen has been an essential and it’s no different this time around either. If you haven’t go the sort of funds to incorporate one of their dresses into your attire, at least compliment it with an elegant scarf to put a finishing touch to what you’re wearing.

- Furs: An accessory which is making a comeback this year – to the delight of many – is furs. They’re becoming the ultimate add-on to an extravagant outfit and it’s doubtful that you’d need an explanation to discover why that is. Striking mink and exotic furs bring life to your clothes, so be sure to welcome them into your life.

- Pointed-Toe Shoes: The sharp-toed shoe is back in town and it’s a style many couldn’t wait to bring back. A number of people have been impatient over its return recently, so forced it back onto the catwalks by setting the trends in the high street. For a striking look, without drawing too much attention to yourself, this will inevitably achieve the task.

So there it is. The Alexander McQueen scarf, furs and pointed-toe shoes are all things which have to become mingled into your wardrobe, to get you in-tune for 2012. If you’re looking to be up-to-date with what the fashion industry are re-incorporating into the everyday attire of style-conscious people all over, the aforementioned shall get you on your way to achieving it. Don’t do it half-heartedly; 2012 is the year to impress.

2011 was a great year for TV, wasn’t it? In fact, just as good, were the adverts which were embedded between them. 2011 saw a flurry of well-thought-out and quirky ads, to take advantage of the spurt of viral advertising found online. Since they’ve had such large impressions on the internet, it was only right that this trend spilled over to the masses via their TVs too. So here are the Top 10 TV adverts of 2011.

10. Twining Tea: Gets You Back to Life. Guess who excelled themselves on the advertising front this year. (Watch)

9. Warburtons: Celebration. The 1,000,000th loaf of bread is made at the Warburtons factory. Imagine the excitement that day. Well you no longer have to with this advert. (Watch)

8. BBC Radio 4: History of the Bull. A man dives over a bull. Need we say any more? (Watch)

7. East Coast Trains: Museum. A criticism of many ads is that they’re just too complicated. East Coast Trains recognised it and took all the complexities out. (Watch)

6. Magner’s Bees. It one of the ads you can’t help but be sucked in by, after all everyone would love to walk around with a beard made of bees, which end up making you cider. (Watch)

5. Cravendale: Cats with Thumbs. You shouldn’t need any reminders about this one. Imagine a dream world where all cats had thumbs. (Watch)

4. Muller: Cartoon Ad. OK, let’s be serious for a minute and imagine if cartoon characters roamed the streets. Yeah, it’s a little hard to imagine, but Muller think it might go a little something like this. (Watch)

3. John Lewis Christmas Advert 2011. You’ll never forget the feeling you got from watching this advert. John Lewis dabbed it for Christmas 2011 with the best of the bunch, (Watch)

2. Old Spice: The Man You Could Smell Like. Taking their viral ad series from the US to our shores, The Man You Could Smell Like is a unmissable ad the year will be remembered for. (Watch)

1. Volkswagen: The Force. Who could possibly resist watching a pint-sized Darth Vader attempting to use The Force on everything in his home, until he – kinda – uses it to open the new Volkswagen? (Watch)
